Nordic Chambers’ Event – Navigating a Changing World Order – Geneva

Date & Time:

June 4 @ 18:00 - 21:00

Event Details

The Estonian Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland is delighted to invite you—in collaboration with the Swedish-Swiss Chamber and partnering Nordic Chambers—to an evening of high‑level reflection and dialogue on the future of the rules‑based international order.

As global power dynamics shift and major actors increasingly disregard long‑standing norms, smaller democracies — including the Nordic countries and Switzerland — face growing uncertainty.

This event explores how these nations can navigate a world where international law is under strain and multilateral cooperation is no longer guaranteed.

SPEAKER

Beatrice Fihn is the Director of the Lex International Fund, a philanthropic fund focused on supporting and developing international law, and a Senior Fellow at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR).

She is widely recognised as a leading expert on international law, weapons governance, and civil society mobilisation, with deep expertise spanning multilateral diplomacy, global governance, and cross-border policy coordination.

As former Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) — the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize-winning coalition — Beatrice accepted the Nobel Peace Prize and delivered the Nobel Lecture in Oslo on behalf of the campaign.

Her foundation’s December 2024 report examines how successfully international law and multilateralism have functioned historically in matters of war and peace, what we stand to lose if the current system fails, and the urgent steps required to preserve it.
